The Douglas County Historical Society (a registered nonprofit) is looking for a way to have a perpetual income. Something that will grow an account, and allow the society to make repairs, renovations, etc., on the Floed-Lane House using interest income only.
In order to accomplish this end we need an attorney who is willing to volunteer for the society a day a week or so, to help us set up the endowment itself, and to help members give to the endowment in a proper way.
We also need someone who has very good people skills to talk to members and others who might be interested in giving/donating to an endowment. You will start the process, the attorney will then take the helm, and you leave the member together feeling good that you helped a historic property listed on the National Register of Historic Places to keep it’s place in our local, & state community.
Soon we will be asking members and other interested parties to consider giving part of their estates to the society for this account. We will never ask for 100% of your estate. We understand that you have a family. The goal it get a little slice of the pie, so as to not take away from loved ones. We can then say, that monies invested in the account will never be spent. Instead it is the interest on the account that helps DCHS to do upkeep the property.
Thank you for your time,
President, Douglas County Historical Society.
